As a tech-forward communicator, digital media producer, and educator, I am passionate about fostering clear, transparent, and engaging public information. Building on decades of professional experience in education, a passion for new media, and a deep understanding of municipal operations, I specialize in transforming complex information into accessible, community-focused digital storytelling.
My professional career is rooted in over three decades as a senior post-secondary instructor and course developer, where I specialized in researching and breaking down complex concepts into clear, engaging, and informative material. Alongside my educational background, I am an active digital media creator and strategist. As the founder and operator of the independent community platform Our Town Clarenville, I have spent years developing, editing, and managing hyper-local digital and video content. My practical media skills are backed by a strong academic foundation from Memorial University, where I earned a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, giving me a comprehensive understanding of research, marketing, public relations, and communications strategy.
Complementing my professional background is a long-standing commitment to local government. Having served as a CTV Municipal Correspondent and multiple elected terms as a Town Councillor and Deputy Mayor, I possess a strong, firsthand knowledge of municipal structures, public policy, and departmental operations. Throughout my tenure, I chaired various municipal committees, a role that required balancing diverse departmental needs, collaborating closely with senior staff, and driving public engagement on key local issues.
This experience taught me how local government operates from the inside out and highlighted the vital importance of timely, accurate corporate communication. Further blending my educational and municipal backgrounds, I also developed the comprehensive online Municipal Training Program through the College of the North Atlantic, in cooperation with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador.
Today, my focus is on leveraging modern technology—from graphic design and video media to various digital platforms—to keep a community informed, connected, and inclusive. A key part of this work has been ensuring that local events, initiatives, and vital updates are accessible to our growing senior population, helping to foster a more age-friendly, engaged community. I am committed to utilizing these tools to enhance public awareness, and community engagement.
