Born out of the Clarenville Strategic Tourism Development process, the Clarenville Coasts Project envisioned a digital flagship of the Clarenville Coasts Regional Tourism Association. As part of the Economic Development Committee of the previous Clarenville Town Council, I was involved in the project, supplying many of the images and some of the information for the project. The project represents an innovative and bold strategic shift away from individual municipal marketing toward a unified regional identity. By moving beyond town borders, we are positioning our entire area as a single, world-class destination.
In a world of overly polished tourism products, we offer something increasingly rare. Our primary goal is to showcase the region’s unique character: a place where nature remains unspoiled, discovery is self-directed, and the connection to the community is genuine. We invite visitors to experience the rugged beauty of our coastlines and the "company’s coming" warmth of our culture.
Regional Collaboration: We bring together a diverse collective of communities—from Port Blandford and Lethbridge to Clarenville, George’s Brook-Milton, Random Island, and the Southwest Arm.
A "One-Stop" Online Hub: clarenvillecoasts.ca serves as a centralized directory. Whether searching by season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) or interest (Outdoor Adventure, Arts & Culture, Food & Drink, Heritage), travellers can find everything they need in one place.
Empowering Local Operators: Beyond marketing, we act as a vital connector for our tourism industry. We provide seasonal forums, capacity-building initiatives, and collaborative itinerary development to help our local small businesses thrive.
Sustainable Growth: Guided by the Sustainable Tourism Enhancement Plan (STEP), we focus on high-quality visitor experiences that respect our natural environment and strengthen our social fabric.
Our vision is to establish the region as a recognized, year-round tourism hub by 2028. Our roadmap includes:
Visitor Interception: Capturing the attention of travellers moving through the province and giving them compelling reasons to stop and stay longer in the Clarenville area.
Season Extension: Highlighting the beauty of our "shoulder" and winter seasons, from snowmobiling the Discovery Trail to downhill skiing at White Hills.
Narrative-Driven Marketing: Focusing on the "stories waiting to be told," where every visitor feels they’ve discovered a hidden corner of the world.
This initiative marks a transition from town-led efforts to an industry-driven leadership model. We are ensuring that the people who live, work, and breathe this coastal life are the ones shaping its future as a destination.
